Haven’t updated for a long long time. Well, my school blocks xanga, that’s why. It also blocks facebook, hotmail, proxy, b-tunnel, a-tunnel…. But I will try to update my xanga every time I have the chance to do it (Like going to the public library, that is the only reason I will go to the library) I have left Hong Kong for two months already That is the first time I have left home for so long. I feel better now. I mean, for the first few weeks, every time when I had nothing to do or felt bored I kept thinking of home This time, leaving home is so different from that two to three years ago I went to Oxford. Last time I went to Oxford, even though I stayed there for three weeks, I didn’t feel homesick at all. Time was so much occupied that you seldom have time to think of home. But, don’t worry, I have already got through it and I am feeling well. No worries. Some people said children studying abroad will make their relationship with parents worse. But, You won’t know how much how much you love your parents until you are not with them. Well Let’s talk something about my school. My school is not what others always think “OMG, schools in the western countries are very big” Badminton school is not a really big one, of course it’s many times bigger than SPCC, but compared to the other schools in the UK, it’s quite small. However, you don’t have to walk a long way to go to classrooms or dining hall You will understand this when winter comes. There are not many students in the whole school. Only 3xx students in the whole school. That is unbelievable. The class size is small. There are only 7 people in my chemistry group! (The other group has 19 students). For the other subjects I am doing, there are about 11 to 14 people in my class. As for the stuff I learn at school, they are not really difficult. If you have done A.maths in Hong Kong, then you will know all the C1-C4 maths. And since I have done economics for HKCEE, most of the economics stuff I am learning are repeated. It seems a good thing, but this gives me some kind of pressure. The economics teacher said, “for those who have done economics before, I expect them to get a higher mark in the test. If you didn’t, then I wonder what you have done for your CE”. Oh…. Last two weeks, I got LOADS OF TESTS! Last weeks was disastrous, I got 5 bloody tests Two for chemistry (we got two teachers for each subject and each of them teaches different units), economics and biology on the same day, and one for maths (luckily it’s not difficult stuff). We don’t have end-of-term exams, so we need to do well in our tests so that the teachers will give you some good comments on the report card. We cannot ignore them like what we usually do in SPCC. Oh, I just had my lovely 17th birthday! Oh my god! I couldn’t believe it. I AM 17 ALREADY. One more year, I will be an adult, well just according to the law. Time does fly quickly. When I was small, I was so desperate to become an adult ‘cause it sounds cool to be an adult. This is my very first time to have my birthday without my parents beside me Of course, I did receive birthday cards from my parents. BUT THANKS A LOT GUYS! Janice was the first one to send me a parcel and I was totally surprised You know, it always feels good to get a parcel or letter from your friends or parents when you are studying abroad. And then I got a birthday card from Denise and Amy I got a parcel and birthday card which was drawn by Cecilia herself. On that day, I hanged out with my roommate and my friends wrote me birthday cards. Charlotte phoned me that days and she was the only one who phoned me (except my parents) Calling fee in the UK is not cheap and she phoned me. THAT WAS SO SWEET! Even though I was not having my birthday in Hong Kong, I could feel warmth. J Oh, I haven’t talked about my school life. My lessons begin at 9:05 and end at 4:00. On Monday, I have lessons until 6:05, which is horrible. Every time after games lessons, I feel tired but still economics lessons are waiting for me. Every double lessons last for an hour and twenty minutes. Tuesdays and Fridays are the WORST. ‘cause I have four consecutive maths lessons. The teachers are nice, they put great effort in teaching us. For activities, I am doing Young Enterprise, which is something like running a company with your friends, doing business and EARN MONEY! On Wednesdays, I go to the home for the elderly next to the school to do voluntary service. I am visiting an old lady, Mrs Graves. She has problems with her eyes and cant see properly. Every time, I read her letters, news, books. It is great fun Let’s talk about food, which most people are interested in. Food is not bad, except rice. Rice is the worst, we call it “bullet rice” ‘cause they are hard and not sticky, unlike the ones we usually have in Hong Kong. It tastes really weird and I never have them. They usually have potatoes and I don’t really like potatoes. The main dishes are usually good. Oh, the desserts are NICE, especially the apple crumble, and anything with chocolatef. it is so good that every time I eat two. I know, it is fatty but it’s hard to resist the temptation. It’s never easy to be on diet. I AM NOW IN BIRMINGHAM!!! Having my sweet half term. And I can finally use FACEBOOK |
